8th grade - Activity - Do you like basketball too?

Affective purposes: to share some information with others; to get to know each other better.
Linguistic purpose: to practice "My favorite..." and "What´s your favorite...?"
Suggested size of groups: groups of 5 students.
Material: Copies of the survey.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Procedure: a. The teacher hands out a copy of the survey to each other.
b. After getting into groups of 5, students ask questions to each other, using "What´s your favorite...?" Students write down the information.
c. To finish up the teacher asks everybody what the most common answer was and makes a big chart with the information.
Variation: Exchange this survey with those of other classes and see how many people like the same thing. Make a chart to put in the corridor or on the bulletin board.
