7th grade - Activity - Interviewing famous people

Level: Basic
Affective purposes: to relate to others and express one´s feelings.
Linguistic purposes: to ask about likes and dislikes.
Suggested size of groups: pair work/groups of three or whole class.
Material: Pictures and name cards.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Procedure:
Role play 1:
Interviewing famous people

Divide the class into pairs and hand out pictures of famous people. Make sure to lay them face down. A student from each pair chooses a name or picture. In pairs, the student asks if his/her partner likes or doesn´t like the person. The other student answers. The next pairs receive new cards, then one interviews the other as if he/she were a famous person. Then they swap and change sides so that the interviewer becomes the interviewee.

Simulation 2:
Interviewing each other
(10 min)

When the hole play is finished, collect the cards. Next, the students split into three (A,B and C) so that A interviews B and then he/she reports to C what B has answered. After doing this, students must swap so that each one of them will be able to play the part of A,B, and C.

Discussion 3:
(10 min)

Ask the whole class, "Do you like...?. When you find something which everyone likes, put it at the top of the list. When you ask, "Do you like...?" and you find something that nobody likes, put it at the bottom of the list, too. make enough squares for ten items. Form new groups of three and ask your students to prepare a similar list(remembered or written) which is true for them as a group of three, in such a way as to put their agreed likes at the top of a list, the ones they could not agree on in the middle of the list and agreed "dislikes" at the botton of the list. When the first group is ready, they go around reporting to the other groups. If the class has a large number of students, it might be the best to have the group report to the whole class.
